August 21, 2008 meeting minutes

Thanks to Mr. David Foster for the delicious catering dinner - maple syrup glazed chicken warmed by the special candel fires and it was yami, the green salads with nuts was fresh and crunchy, varity of deserts were yami and lemon tea was fresh.  What a healthy dinner it was.

Mr. Foster also gave an inservice on the new Similac products with the probiotic formula and user friendly packaging for resting the scoop in the fromula can lid, what a creative design.

Sue Liu, president, urged members to take benefit for sign on the Annual Conference online before August 29th for $100.00 discount.

She also requested members to use our website communicating the needs for the next year CEU educational topics.

Kristina James, vice-president was not able to attend the meeting.

Kathy Weeks, Secretary, reported last minutes.

RuthAnn Grimmer, Treasurer, reported the balance sheet.

Sheri Clark, Community Service Liaison, got members approved the auction items for the Beginning Center, and for purchasing blanket fabrics. 

Last, Ms. Maloney, RN, BSN, CPN, gave a wonderful lecture with handouts for the palliative care, it helped us to be constructive in dealing with dying patients and assisting the family to cope with the crisis.

Speaker: Ms. Meredith Maloney, RN, BSN, CPN

Ms. Maloney is a Texas women’s University graduate with BS in Nursing and Biology.
She has worked with critically ill children with both acute and chronic conditions and their families in PICU and ED setting to help them dealing with the death of their child/children.
She has participated in multiple care conferences, supporting families in attaining and fulfilling heir needs and the needs of their dying child/children.

She had attended the ELNEC National Training Course in Fall 2007 in California and brought home with new idea and the changes in approaching to patient/family care that had a very positive impact in the population that she served.
